Series: Penn State Logic Seminar Date: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 Time: 2:30 - 3:45 PM Place: 106 McAllister Building Speaker: Carl Mummert, Appalachian State University, Mathematics Title: Topological Aspects of Poset Spaces Abstract: This is joint work with Frank Stephan. For each poset P we may form the topological spaces MF(P) and UF(P) consisting, respectively, of the maximal or unbounded filters on P. The basic open sets in each topology are collections of filters that contain a fixed element of the poset. Spaces of the form MF(P) or UF(P) are called poset spaces. In this talk, I will describe what is known and what is unknown about the general topology of poset spaces.
